One favorite things to do here is just take a steamer around the lake and soak in the scenery every time the boat stops at a village. Como is shaped like an upsidedown “Y”, with Como and Lecco at the tips of the arms. Bellagio sits at the intersection of the arms. Its cobbled alleys and paths start from the lakefrontlakefront n.湖滨地带, 湖边平地 and take you up and down the hill. There are many shops to see and wonderful quaintquaint adj.离奇有趣的, 奇怪的, 做得很精巧的 little restaurants to try. St. James Basilica, one of the finest examples of RomanesqueLombard architecture, is an official national monument that goes back to the 10th century. Its interior is made of soft grey stone that resembles very fine flannel, with gold accents.
Another great thing to do in Bellagio is just sit at one of the hotel cafes that line the shore, have a drink and watch the steamers go by. There,s a lot of coming and going, but the boats have electric motors which are virtually soundless, so they,re never a nuisancenuisance n.讨厌的人或东西, 麻烦事, 损害 and always lots of fun to watch. You can visit all of Bellagio in just a couple of hours, but definitely be prepared for some uphill walking.
Como is the largest and probably most visited city along the lake. It has an imposing, quite ancient cathedral. Because it took four centuries to build, and because the three different styles were executed with equal flair, many consider it to be the best example of fusion of styles in Italy. It is ornately decorated inside and out and definitely worth a visit. In the evening it,s nice to go to Como and take a walk along the narrow streets and window shop or take a stroll down the boulevardboulevard n.(美)林阴大道 along the lake to see the town lights reflected against the water. It,s also a great way to see the locals interact.

加尔达的景点很多,有碧绿的南湖岸、紧挨着北面陡峭的斜坡和悬崖、群山映衬下的东侧林阴。加尔达是一个二战后发展起来的颇受欢迎、吸引人的旅游胜地。
The Garda Lake
The Garda Lake is the largest and the most popular holiday regions of Italy visited by millions of tourists each year. It was formed during the very last period of the Ice Age and covers 370 square kilometres, reaching right up into the Alps. In a beautiful mountain setting, it is one of the most picturesque parts of the “Old Continent”. The most Mediterranean of the Alpine Italian lakes, Garda shows itself in its wonderful surrounding of natural luminosityluminosity n.发光度 and colours; without any doubt, it is a unique holiday spot, in all seasons. Its shores, studded with villages and small towns, add much charm of a builtup landscape to the beauty of its rich natural environment, and the spell of ancient findings of Roman settlements, medieval fortressesfortress n.堡垒, 要塞, noble villas and other imposing buildings. With its both Romanesque and Baroquestyle churches, sanctuariessanctuary n.避难所 and monasteriesmonastery n.修道院, 僧侣, the Garda lake shows all the different aspects of its personality, even as an incomparably spiritual place. The region abounds in many small villages, each of which manifests nuances of its diversity and invaluable characteristic features despite common history and culture.
The lake is a major tourist destination with a number of hotels and resorts along its shore. The town of Sirmione, located on the south of the lake is one particularly popular destination, home to the Virgilio&Catullo Spa Complexes, as well as numerous restaurants, bars, hotels, fashion stores and a market. Another interesting focal point is the northwestern village of Limone. Limone became famous in 1979 when the apolipoprotein A 1 MILANO was discovered. This protein, which is in the blood of the people born in Limone, quickly removes the fat from the arteries and leads it to the liver, where it is then eliminated. This protein is efficaciousefficacious adj.有效的, 灵验的 against arteriosclerosisarteriosclerosis n.动脉硬化 and infarctinfarct n.[医]梗塞, 梗死. The protein has given residents of the village extreme longevity a dozen of those living here are over the age of 100.

Lake Maggiore
Lake Maggiore is shared by two Italian regions. While the eastern shores nestle in Lombardia, the western side of the Lake marks the north eastern corner of Piemonte and even the border with Switzerland a few kilometers north of Cannobio.
As you might expect, the cultural exchanges over the centuries have left their mark in the names of the towns and various comuni.
But the likes of Stresa, Oggebbio, Meina, Ghiffa and Bèe suggest origins even older than the modern nation states.
The village of Ornavasso is a good example. It probably derivesderive vt.得自 vi.起源 from the German “ort am Wasser” meaning “place on the water” and records suggest it was founded in the 13th century by Walser colonists from the Vallese.
They must have been holy types as the town contains many religious buildings including a Boden sanctuary reachable by muletrack.
Also impressive is the Baroque “Madonna della Guardia” built in an octagonal plan between 1674 and 1772.
It sits next to a medieval watchtowerwatchtower n.了望塔 with spectacular views over the Ossola Valley and the Corni di Nibbio peaks.
Garden and flower lovers should beat a path to Lake Maggiore. It was here the 4th edition of “Orchids on the Lake” was held at Ossola and the town is recognised as having 5 of the best 35 gardens in Italy by publishers Prisma of Sweden.
The gardens can be found at Villa Taranto, Isola Madre, Isola Bella, Villa S. Remigio and Villa Pallavicino.
Each garden has to overcomeovercome vt.战胜, 克服, 胜过, 征服 vi.得胜 6 hours of careful scrutiny including photographic records.
