Pattern the grass with flowers.

Where the people used to live

In the houses the men knocked down

Bees and butterflies are busy

In the flowers’new town.

Paradise

by Christina Rossetti

I heard the songs of paradise;

Each bird sat singing in his place,

A tender song so full of grace,

It soared like incense to the skies.

Each bird sat singing to his mate.

Soft cooing notes among the trees;

The nightingale herself were cold to such as these.

The Lake Isle of Innisfree

by William Butler Yeats

I will arise and go now,and go to Innisfree,

And a small cabin build there,of clay and wattles made;

Nine bean-rows will I have there,a hive for the honey-bee,

And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there,for peace comes dropping slow

Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;

There midnight’s all a glimmer,and noon a purple glow,

And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now,for always night and day,

I hear the lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;

While I stand on the roadway,or on the pavements gray,

I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

在那儿搭建一座小木屋,以泥块枝桠编织而成;

由清晨的迷蒙到蟋蟀的鸣唱;

那儿的子夜,星光闪烁;中午,紫光一片;

Upon Westminster Bridge

by William Wordsworth

Earth has not anything to show more fair:

Dull would he be of soul who could pass by

A sight so touching in its majesty:

This City now doth,like a garment,wear

The beauty of the morning;silent,bare,

Ships,towers,domes,theatres,and temples lie

Open unto the fields,and to the sky,

All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.

Never did sun more beautifully steep

In his first splendour valley,rock,or hill;

Never saw I,never felt,a calm so deep!

The river glided at his own sweet will:

Dear God!the very houses seem asleep;

And all that mighty heart is lying still!

气象万千,沁人心脾;

冠带华严,沉寂而旷远;

普照幽谷、巉岩、山岗;

河水潺潺流,悠然自得;

A Psalm of Life

by Herry Wadsworth Longfellow

Tell me not in mournful numbers,

Life is but an empty dream!

For the soul is dead that slumbers

And things are not what they seem.

Life is real!Life is earnest!

And the grave is not its goal;

Dust you art,to dust returnest,

Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment,and not sorrow,

Is our destined and our way;

But to act,that much tomorrow.

Find us farther than today.

Art is long,and time is fleeting.

And our hearts,though stout and brave.

Still,like muffled drums,are beating

Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world’s broad field of battle,

In the bivouac of Life,

Be not like dumb,driven cattle!

Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no future,however pleasant!

Let the dead Past bury its dead!

Act,act in the living Present!

Heart within,and God Overhead!

Lives of great men all remind us

We can make our lives sublime,

And departing,leave behind us

Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints that perhaps another,

Sailing o’er life solemn main,

A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,

Seeing,shall take heart again,

Let us,then,be up and doing,

With a heart for any fate;

Still achieving,still pursuing

Learn to labour and to wait.
