第3章 前言(3)

Now, we have already succeeded in setting up platforms for communication between Chinas and the worlds 3D technology such as — the World 3D Printing Technology Industry Conference and the World 3D Printing Technology Exposition. In addition, we have initiated and established the World 3D Printing Technology Industry Alliance, which includes the leading enterprises and scientific research institutions in this field from U.S.A., Germany, U.K., France, Canada, Austrilia, Korea, Japan, Belgium and Singapore.

While popularizingthis new technology, we will pay attention to the following five aspects:

1. Making full use of the alliances brainpower for educating, setting up 3D printing research institute and training professional personnel and formulating appropriate plans and criteria;

2. Establishing innovative service platforms and service centers, making the online industry news, E-Business and personalized service platform to combine 3D printing technology and traditional industries and boost the wide application of 3D;

3. Foundingof a 3D Printing Industry Fund to support research, as well as development and innovation of scientific research, by institutions and member enterprises;

4. Improving international communication and dialogue by organizing brand activities, such as the World 3D Printing Technology Industry Conference, the World 3D Printing Technology Exposition, the International Creative Competition of 3D Printing, and the 3D Printing Fashion Show;

5.Constructing the World 3D Printing Headquarters Base and 3D Printing Industrial Park to promote the agglomeration development and cluster development of the upstream and downstream industries.

It isa fact that many books about this new technology have been published since 2012 when the 3D printing technology gained wide notice in the world, but generallyspeaking none of them contain systematic knowledge, or concrete ideas and suggestions about its further development. Since I had already considered writing a book on 3D, I agreed to have a try when the editor of the Orient Press called at me.

The past half-year during which time I wrote the book saw me conducting more research and working steadily to gain as much current knowledge of this industry as possible.

As to the Third Industrial Revolution, Ibelieve strongly it has been evoked by the internet technology. Other technologies have had comparatively limited effects upon the production and living conditions of mankind, while internet technology has affected our life ubiquitously and deeply, and will doubtless continue to change the modes of living and production.

Since the Financial Crisis of 2008, I haveposited that the global industrial structure would be reshuffled and a new technology will lead to a global transformation. But what technology could rise to this ocassion and set the trend in the economic flight? There are so many opinions being debated by many experts that it is nearly impossible to draw a definitive conclusion.

The Financial Crisis was caused by the explosive outbreak of structural contradictions in American economy, rather than complex financial derivatives of Wall Street investment-banking institutions, or the greed of Wall Street. It was believed that the crisis would be over in two or three years, but this period proved to be but the very beginning and the problem was much more serious than was imagined.

The American government has excessively taken advantage of its advanced management experience in the field of finance for a long time. With the predominance of US dollars as the world currency, they make rules to control world finance. Due to the increasing pressure of environmental concerns and resources, caused by high costs of labour and material in the chain of production and manufacture, and also due to the decreasing demands of the market, many American manufacturing enterprises transferred their factories to other countries.

The 2008 Financial Crisis saw a beginning of the decline of developed countries such as America, and it was also an alarm for developing countries. Americas real economy is too weak to support a powerful America. The present industrial structure cannot help the country return to its historic splendor.

It is clear that although traditional manufacturing technologies have been perfected in the past thousand years and are quite mature now, they will always be modified and optimized by some new technologies. It is not important whether 3D printing will propel the new industrial revolution or not, but it is obvious that this technology will definitely improve and enhance traditional manufacturing. It is reasonable to believe that 3D printing technology, about which we only know a little at present, will appeal to a vast market in the future.

What I think about this technology might be inaccurate, and I earnestly expectwise observations and perspicacious comments from readers. We are just beginning to know 3D printing, and I believe more miracles will yet be worked and worth attention.Please join us and make this happen.
