Stay in China and Sing Good SongsOn March 2, 2007, a group of friends threw a birthday party ina pub in honor of Hao Ge, who hurried back to the party from threesuccessive shows. Many of those present were celebrities of the musicindustry. Hao Ge was deeply touched by the presence of Mr. and Mrs.

Ge Yanping, the chief director of “Star Boulevard”, Abao, the firstplace holder of 2005’s finale and Aerfa, a little star shining on the “StarBoulevard”。 “So many friends came here to celebrate his birthday,” thefamous musician Li Jie said in his congratulatory speech. “We can seewhat a good reputation Hao Ge has in our music circle.” Besides LiuHuan, Li Jie, and Lao Zai, Hao Ge boasted, Cui Jian, father of China’

s rock music, composer San Bao, famous singers like Ding Wei, LinYilun, Pang Long, Yang Kun and Lu Wei are all his friends.

Hao Ge is popular in show circles and well received by audiences.

He is approached with warm smiling faces wherever he goesand will get a helping hand whenever he finds himself in need. Here inChina he has realized his music dreams, and here in China he feels asfree as a fish swimming in the sea. He is deeply in love with the countrythat admits him with her openheartedness and blesses him as herown child. He has traveled to many other countries where he sufferedso many hardships in life and so many tortures in realizing his dreams;at last he has found the right place with the feeling of being home.

He wants to stay and build up his singing career in China, and64 even wants to become a Chinese citizen. Why the Chinese citizenship?

“Music is my first priority and I have my music career in China,” hesaid. “Although I have been to many other countries, I have felt thathomey warmness and sense of security only in China. In cities inmany other countries, no one dares to go outside alone at night. But inBeijing, I could walk around safely even after midnight. Hao Ge’s efforts have been paid off handsomely by his achievements.

And finally, his father has begun to understand his decision andeven plans to pay a visit to his son. To Hao Ge’s delight, the generationgap has been bridged. Ready to settle down in China, he rented anapartment and brought his wife and son over. Although Chinese cuisineis well known all over the world, Hao Ge hasn’t completely gottenused to it. He is allergic to seafood so he has to stay away from that, andonly enjoys food like steamed dumplings, pepper, curry, etc. Of coursehis favorite is still the African food cooked by his wife.
