第116章 Sweet-scented Osmanthus-JiangTingxi

Sweet-scented Osmanthus, a Qing Dynasty(1644. 1911) hanging scroll by Jiang Tingxi, ink and color on silk, 172.8cm×74.5cm, in the collection of the Palace Museum, Taipei.

Jiang Tingxi(1669.1732), a court painter in the Qing Dynasty, did well in drawing flowers and birds. His flower-and-bird paintings were labeled as “Jiang Style.” His extant works include Bamboo and Rocks, Flowers, Wild Chrysanthemum and Four Auspicious Objects. Sweet-scented Osmanthus has graceful colors and uses neat painting techniques. The poem inscribed by Emperor Kangxi makes it more glamorous.
