A Copy of Zhang Xuan’s Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk, by Zhao Ji, Northern Song Dynasty(960?1127), ink and color on silk, 37cm×145.3cm, in the collection of Museum of Fine Arts,Boston.

This copy work is attributed to Zhao Ji, Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. It describes the scene that ladies, maids and girls, all of whom wear Tang style costume, prepare newly woven silk, circle silk threads, sew and iron clothes. All the people have plump body, good look and gorgeous clothes. It adopts delicate drawing techniques and bright colors. Actually, the original version of Ladies Preparing Newly Woven Silk by Zhang Xuan has already been lost. Since this is a faithful reproduction of the original set, people can get to know Zhang Xuan’s painting style through it. It is rare material to research paintings in the Tang Dynasty.

It moved overseas in 1912 and is now in the collection of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
