第85章 Aigrettes and Water Lily-LüJi

Aigrettes and Water Lily, a Ming Dynasty(1368.1644) painting by Lü Ji, ink and color on silk, 192.6cm× 111.9cm, in the collection of the Palace Museum, Taipei.

Lü Ji(1477.?) was a famous court painter in the Ming Dynasty. His extant works are mainly flower-and-bird paintings. He was good at drawing mandarin duck and peacock. This work puts weeping willow, water lily and withered lotus together, increasing a sense of vitality for the cold autumn. Three egrets, two flying in the sky and one standing in the water, also bring a little more vigor to the painting.
