微波餐点

很多上班族的午餐时间，是从微波炉(microwave)前排队热餐点开始的。东方人习惯在家先做好餐点(homemade meal)，带到公司用微波炉加热就可以吃了；而很多美国人则是喜欢购买已经烹制、包装好的可微波市售餐点（microwavable meals），放进微波炉中加热食用。

超市里，可微波餐点的选择种类非常多，从传统餐点(classic favorites)、各国料理（international cuisines）、或是最受欢迎的食物像是起司通心面，几乎都能找得到。微波餐点快速而又简单，最适合那些奔波劳碌、没有时间自己下厨的人。这种盒装餐点的主菜和配菜都很多样化，内多含有肉类、蔬菜和碳水化合物(carbohydrate)食物。注意健康的人想要维持低卡路里饮食也不成问题，因为考虑到消费者的营养均衡问题，现在的餐点外大多贴有标签，清楚表示餐点的卡路里(calorie)与热量，消费者可斟酌是否符合自己的要求。

有些人不喜欢餐点微波后的口感和味道，所以食物加热后的品质就变成了各家公司追求的主要目标。例如有一家公司就采用了日本的蒸汽科技，强调微波之后米饭能像刚起锅那样松软、酱料也可以保持原来的口感。

Reading books

(It was Sunday. George came to Brian to ask whether he had finished reading the novel they bought last week.)

George ： Good morning， Brian. Have you finished reading the novel you bought last week？

Brian ： No， I was very busy yesterday. I only finished reading half of it.

George ： When will you plan to finish reading it？

Brian ： About three days more， I think.

George ： Well， I'll come to you for it three days later.

Brian ： No problem.

George ： Do you think this novel is interesting？

Brian ： Yes， it is. But there are many characters in it， and sometimes you'll be confused.

George ： I see.

Brian ： By the way， how will you kill your time this afternoon？

George ： I happened to buy my favorite magazine yesterday. And I think there's nothing better than reading something. It's excellent relaxation.

Brian ： And there is a saying， “It's never too late to learn.”

Reading is a good way to learn.

George ： You are quite right. I wish I had more time for reading.
