Lillian： Tomorrow is Halloween. Im ready. I bought pumpkins and twobags of candy. Would you like to help me make a jack-o-lantern
Jack： Id love to. I heard about Halloween when I was in Shanghai.
Its a kind of childrens day. Small kids get dressed up， then walkaround with paper bags or basket knocking on their neighbors
doors. But what do they say when their neighbors answer
Lillian： They will say：“Trick or Treat” Then their neighbors aresupposed to hand out some candy.
Jack： That sounds interesting. What does “Trick”mean
Lillian： Usually its the older kids going around playing pranks， likepunching the pumpkins left outside peoples doors， or handinga roll of toilet paper in someones tree. They usually do it late atnight after the little kids go home.
Jack： It sounds fun. Maybe I could get together with my friends that night.
Lillian： The adults who dont have kids have a big party and get dressed up too.
Jack： That sounds like much fun.
万圣节
Lillian： 明天就是万圣节了。我已经准备好了。我买了南瓜和两袋糖。
你能帮我做一个南瓜灯吗？
Jack： 我很乐意。我在上海时听说了这个节日。这是孩子们的节日。
小孩们乔装打扮好后就带着纸袋或篮子四处敲邻居们的门。

Lillian： 他们会说：“想要恶作剧还是款待我一下？”邻居们就会拿出一些糖果。
Jack：真有意思，但是恶作剧都包括哪些内容呢？
Lillian： 通常是一些比较大的孩子到处走动来搞一些恶作剧，比如说把邻居门口的南瓜灯上戳几个洞，或者给人家的树上挂一卷卫生纸。他们经常在一些年龄较小的孩子回家后趁着深夜干这些事。
Jack： 这听起来很有意思。也许那晚我也可以和我的朋友们聚在一起呢。
