支票一般是通过邮政寄来的，也有的是通过速递公司或特快专递来的。这种支票在银行叫做光票。从国外寄出的支票大概需要两个星期左右就可以收到，要注意这是从国外寄出的时间算起，而不是广告商在网站上的支付日期。如果超过一个月后，仍没有收到支票，就要写信告诉广告赞助商，请求重新邮寄。
收到支票后，要到当地县级以上的银行单位办理光票托收。银行必须是中国人民银行批准有外汇业务的，一般像中国银行、工商银行、招商银行等各大银行都可以，询问一下就可以了。填写光票托收申请书办理托收。需持本人有效证件办理，如本人不能来，委托他人代办时，请出示委托人和代办人的有效证件。票据上收款人姓名必须与收款人有效证件上的姓名一致。票据收款人姓名为汉语拼音的，必须与证件名字相符，如不相符，为确保收款人利益，请开具单位或街道办事处的证明或律师行、公证处的证明，确认收款人的真实姓名。
办理托收时，要填写托收申请书一式两联，其中一联交还给你自己保管，作为取款凭证。办理托收时，银行会给你开一个外汇的储蓄账户。这个账户会视外币的种类不同而定，如果是美元账户，而收的是其它货币，将来则会按当日的汇率进行折算。
