I didn’t know exactly how my mother and I got involved in interna-tional woman’s club at the very beginning. What I do remember clearly is how we started our experience with it.It was the first fami]Y potluck hat we went to ever since we came Io Iowa.We shared food from allover the world and after that practiced dancing from which culture I couldn’t remember. It was something whole new to me because back in China hardly could I expect an opportunity like this. It’s not only about he dances we did and food we ate,but in nature,to be honest,is about the senses of knowing and identifying with each other. It feels like cul-tures colliding and mixing at an edge called usA or International.
There were club members almost from all over the globe with some of them enrolled for years and some being just new comers. There are aconsiderable portion of the foreign women who along with their hus-bands immigrated to America with no job and educational degree thoughit does not necessarily mean that they are lazy.Sometimes it is because of their visas, kids or ages that made them home where they could seek faith and communication with people of different culture but same gen-der and experience only here in this club.Of course, international wom-an’s club is not absolutely a place for lonesome females as it hopes toinvolve women of every.personality and character, doing every type of activities.Free English lessons are taught routinely on weekdays anddancing was held weekly as well.Pulling women of different back-grounds and stories together,International woman’s club seems not only a club, but a stage,a platform for fernales of all ages and status to get acquainted and develop a friendship with each other.
