第48章 Interacting with Korean family--Kelly(1)

Through the colorful activities organized by Women international club, non made a same aged friend who is from Korea. She has a one year old younger daughter who has a lovely name Kelly.Very acciden-tally on a party I met her.She arrived at Iowa almost the same time as I did or probably a bit later.Sharing the nearly same experience,I was so excited to find that I had so much in common and so many topics with this amiable Korean girl.Besides I-Chau who was the China Taiwanese classmate of mine in American study,I just thought that she was my closest friend in Hawkeye Court where lives people speak languages from A to Z.

We frequently met each on the party held by international women club, exchanging the delicious food of our respective cultures.Gradual-ly,our relationship grew out of the regular family party organized by the club since we began going out together through phone contacts.Often-times on weekends,We two families went out together for a walk afterdinner. Two fathers got together talking about the jobs, economy and social problems of their native lands.Mothers got together sharing tips for making noodles and salad and their lives in the same place of Iowa.Kelly and I stayed together chatting our previous schools and fun inci-dents happened after coming to Iowa.It was really amazing how being with them gave me an immense sense of similarity and homogeneity Which greatly compensated for my sporadic homesickness.

My family left Iowa a few days earlier than they did and it was ex-tremely unfortunate that I wasn’t able to say last goodbye to them before leaving because Kelly and his parents went traveling. When I wanted to phone her,she had been on her way leaving for Eastern America.I often ponder later that probably Kelly would likely to be one of the most impressive guys that I ever met. When I was away from my home feeling alone living in the entirely alienated place, she gave me a hug saying we were the same and we count make the life better by commu-nicating with each other.

The whole town became alive. It was the paradise of flowers.Mayin Pella was the most hilarious and lively month of the year. The tulips blossom altogether under the lovely sunshine. It was the most wonderful scene l"d seen.

Tulip show was one of the most popular activities in Iowa. The so-called tulip show is centered in Pella every year.Only heard about it earlier before,I kept a curious as well as eager heart going on the way to Pella this weekend.

Pella is located somewhere near Des Moines. It took us 2 whole hours to drive there.

There had already been a lot of people when I got there. It is said that the majority of the residents in Pella are descends of Dutch many years ago.Tulips are the symbol of their homeland and permanent root. The tulips are hybridized by human beings and seemed gorgeous. Many of them were made up of more than 1 color.Quantities of tulips were not that concentrated in Pella, however.More of them seemed isolated and unique.Red,yellow, pink and purple covered up the original land of verdant grasses and other wild plants as if the entire town was cov-ered by a large stretching fabric that was vouchsafed by nature. As afanatic of photographing.I surely would not miss the opportunity catch-ing such a magnificent view in my camera lens.
