这段对白是凯瑟琳从咖啡店回来之后两人之间的邮件来往。凯瑟琳满怀欣喜地去见网友，不知为何他却“没有出现”，却无意中碰见了乔，凯瑟琳并不知道让她生气的乔？福克斯就是她要见的网友，将乔奚落了一顿。失望懊恼的凯瑟琳回去后就给NY152写了这封邮件。然而，正如她在邮件中所说，她感到有点后悔对乔说了那些话。从邮件的字里行间可以读出，也许正是从这时开始，凯瑟琳就隐隐觉得乔就是与自己一直有着邮件来往的网友，但并不确定，也不敢相信这样的事实。另一方面，在咖啡馆，乔也万万没想到凯瑟琳就是邮件中那个温柔善良的Shop girl，对一切了然于心的乔开始对凯瑟琳有所好感，不过他还要在凯瑟琳面前以乔的身份出现，在网上仍以NY152和凯瑟琳聊天，并希望通过虚实身份的变换，逐步改变凯瑟琳对乔的误解偏见。虽然在咖啡店被凯瑟琳贬得一文不值，但在邮件中乔还是尽量宽慰凯瑟琳，主动承认爽约是自己的错。虽然此段是邮件中的文字，但是影片中男女主人公都以独白的方式读了出来，并通过此体现人物当时的心理。刚从咖啡店不欢而散的两人回到家，心里都不大好受，所以朗读的语气都比较平稳，尤其是凯瑟琳，语气中略带着忧郁后悔。对白中的黑体单词需要重读，同时乔的对白中additional pain的pain需要拖长一些，以体现乔的内疚。
