Mandarin Ducks under Withered Lotus， a Yuan Dynasty（1279.1368） hanging scroll by Zhang Zhong， ink and slight color on paper， 96.4cm×46cm， in the collection of the Palace Museum， Taipei.
Zhang Zhong， a famous flower-and-bird painter in the Yuan Dynasty， enjoyed equal fame with Wang Ruoshui and the pair was acclaimed as two great flower-and-bird painters at that time. It depicts withered lotus and mandarin ducks with freehand and meticulous techniques， showing author’s great skills.
