Sheng Mao， a Yuan painter， inherited knowledges from his family and did well in painting landscapes， characters， birds and flowers.
The fan painting is the eighth piece of Sheng Mao’s Album of Fan Paintings. It depicts the scene that hermits row a boat in the stream and two teals are startled. In the distance are rolling hills， while plants and grasses are verdant in the fore side. It is a typical scene of hermit’s life.
