Three Birds and Spring Flowers, a Ming Dynasty(1368.1644) painting by Bian Wenjin, ink and color on silk, 165.2cm×98.3cm, in the collection of the Palace Museum, Taipei.

Bian Wenjin, a court painter in the Ming Dynasty, enjoyed equal fame with Lü Ji. He did well in flower-and-bird painting and inherited painting techniques of imperial art academy in the Song Dynasty. He was a representative of court-school flower-and-bird painters in the early Ming Dynasty. In the painting are three pied magpies with different postures. Their shapes are lively, painting technique is delicate, and colors are strong, bright and imposing.
