跟读的时候，注意黑体这些实义词须重读，以体现厄尼在说话中的强调。另外，句中的动词have本来作为实义词，理论上应该重读，但由于出现在排比句中“You have…，you have…；you have…”且连续使用的句型完全一样，因此have不需要重读。像这种规则以外的特殊情况也要引起我们的注意。

Inside the house.
Ernie：I don’t think we’re dealing with an ordinary mouse.They heard a crashing from the kitchen，and then they ran into it.
Ernie：My kitchen！
Lars：(Noticing a seemingly fresh thick sandwich on the table)Looks like Caesar1 decided to make himself a sandwich.
Ernie：Pickles2，arugula3 and capers4.He toasted the side with the cheese...but not the other side，so the arugula doesn’t wilt5.How did he know that？
Suddenly，the sandwich was moving.Under it，the mouse was found.Yet it moved so fast that they tried in vain to catch it.Ernie followed the running mouse and was climbing up in the chimney，and saw that little mouse just a couple of feet away above his head.

Lars：Do you see him？

厄尼再一次没有打中老鼠。更糟糕的是，他击中了一个可燃气罐，引发了巨大的爆炸。随着一声巨响，楼板垮了，两人掉进了地下室。

对白分析
当两人再次回到家中，两兄弟开始用he来称呼这只老鼠，哥哥厄尼甚至称老鼠为“凯撒”（在英语里，这个称谓是送给那些无比强大、无比强悍的人或物的）。可见，从一开始的根本不放在眼里，到经过满地老鼠夹、最凶猛的猫、最有经验的捕鼠专家的全部失败，兄弟俩这才明白，他们对付的是一只有史以来最厉害的老鼠。为了将这栋价值上千万美元的房子成功地拍卖掉，他们必须铲除这只“潜伏”已久的老鼠。于是，他们重整旗鼓，开始认认真真地研究这个强大的对手。可是这只老鼠实在太厉害了，竟然知道利用拉斯手中的火柴引爆煤气，爆炸产生的巨大气浪将钻进烟囱的厄尼抛向天空，最后落在了冰冷的池塘里。全身湿透的拉斯杀性更浓，回到屋里找了一把长枪，决心非要干掉这只老鼠。但结果……还是输了。
一只老鼠，竟然引来了一场如此激烈的室内追杀，看上去有些荒诞。然而，当一个人穷途末路，突然遇到了一个可以带来巨大财富的机会，牢牢地抓住这个机会是再正常不过的事。在两兄弟的眼里，和他们同处一室的那只小老鼠成了他们变成千万财富拥有者的破坏者。为了摆脱贫困，两人拼尽全力要把它消灭掉。在这场追逐中，他们最后不仅输给了小小的老鼠，而且输得很惨，因为他们没有意识到，这只老鼠不仅不是他们成功路上的绊脚石，而且是他们的福星。这个故事告诉我们，凡事不可只看表面，换个角度思考问题，不好的一面可能也是好的一面。
